1. Recommended Option

EAN Recommended Option - Null Price Supplement Code

This is the standard size and most often used EAN bookland bar code. It includes the ISBN number which is printed in human readable text above the larger 13 digit bar code and the smaller 5 digit bar code which is referred to as the price supplement code (PSC).

The PSC is optional and may be encoded with a fixed retail price, or with the number 90000 which is referred to as the null set price. The null set price allows retailers to enter and to use their own price information in their database and to make changes to the same.

We highly recommend that you use the bar code image shown above. This selection will give your retailers a better bar code tool and you the freedom to make changes in your selling price without having to reaccomplish your bar code imagery.

If you would like to choose the Recommended Option on your order form, just enter your ISBN number only. The other parameters will be automatically entered for you.

NOTE: A digital image of your bar code can be emailed to you and to your graphic artist within 24 hours. These images are available in TIF, JPG, EPS, BMP, PCX, or Mac (illustrator or Quark) formats. We recommend that you use the TIF or JPG format.

2. Fixed Retail Price Option
EAN Fixed Price Option - Fixed Price Supplement Code

This is also a standard size EAN bookland bar code image; however, it includes a fixed retail price. As previously explained, the 5 digit price supplement code (PSC) is optional and may be encoded with the null set price code of 90000, or with your suggested retail price.

The fixed price code does not permit retailers to enter their price information in their database, nor to change the price that you have encoded in the bar code. Although we do not recommend this option, it is permissible to use the same. However, please keep in mind that whenever your bar code is scanned with a fixed price encoded in the PSC, only that price will appear at the cash register.

If you choose this option, please enter your ISBN number and Your price in the PSC field on the order form. Use the number 5 instead of the $ sign when entering your suggested retail price in the PSC field. For example, $12.95 would be entered as 51295.

NOTE: A digital image of your bar code can be emailed to you and to your graphic artist within 24 hours. These images are available in TIF, JPG, EPS, BMP, PCX, or Mac (illustrator or Quark) formats. We recommend that you use the TIF or JPG format.

3. EAN Only Option
EAN Only - No Price Supplement Code

This is the final example of a standard size EAN bookland bar code image. We refer to it as the EAN only code, because it does not include the five digit price supplement code (PSC). These images are used primarily when space is limited. Good types of applications for these images would include video boxes and audio books (e.g. CDs and cassettes).

If you choose this option, please enter your ISBN number in the ISBN field and select "None" in the PSC field on the electronic order form.

NOTE: A digital image of your bar code can be emailed to you and to your graphic artist within 24 hours. These images are available in TIF, JPG, EPS, BMP, PCX, or Mac (illustrator or Quark) formats. We recommend that you use the TIF or JPG format.
